I’ve been realizing something… I talk about food spots all the time (as I should), but I don’t always pay the same attention to what I’m drinking.
And there are actually Black-owned beverage brands in rotation out here and beyond, we just don’t always clock it like that.
Some of these I’ve tried, some I didn’t even realize were Black-owned at first, and one is still on my list.
Kitsune Brewing Co.
Kitsune is one of those spots that feels like it’s doing its own thing on purpose.
It’s a Black-owned brewery in North Phoenix, and they’ve been around since 2022. What stood out to me is the Japanese-inspired approach to their beers. That’s not something you really see out here, especially not in a space that already doesn’t have a lot of Black-owned breweries to begin with.
It’s not trying to fit into the usual brewery vibe. It feels more intentional than that.
If you’re someone who likes trying something different instead of just ordering the same type of beer everywhere you go, this is one of those places worth pulling up to.
Big Marble Organics
This one is kind of funny to me because I had it before I even knew what it was.
The first time I tried Big Marble was at Arizona Wilderness. I just ordered a drink and remember thinking it actually tasted good. Not too sweet, not watered down, and you could really taste the ginger.
Later on I found out it was Black-owned and it made me pause a little. Like wow, I’ve definitely had this more than once and never even realized.
Now I look for it.
If you like a good mule or anything with ginger beer, this is one of those brands that doesn’t feel like an afterthought in the drink. It actually adds something to it.
SipTale

I haven’t tried SipTale yet, but it’s been on my radar.
What caught my attention first is that it’s not a seltzer. I feel like everything turned into a seltzer at one point and I was never fully into that.
These are supposed to be actual cocktails in a can, sitting at 7 percent. So more like something you’d order at a bar, just already made for you.
I’m curious to see if it really gives that or if it still leans closer to the canned drink vibe. Either way, I like the idea of having something quick that still feels like a real drink.
I’ll definitely be circling back to this one once I try it.
I think moments like this are a reminder that we don’t always have to go out of our way to support Black-owned. Sometimes we’re already doing it, we just don’t know it yet.
And other times it’s just about being a little more intentional with what we choose.
Whether that’s trying a new brewery, paying attention to what’s in your drink, or finally picking up something you’ve been seeing for a while.
Same way we put people onto food spots, we can do the same with what we’re drinking too.
